Chip guys making Bluetooth developer-friendly

New tools improve ease-of-use and energy efficiency

Chip vendors are trying to make Bluetooth the perfect fit for the IoT by using the technology to further reduce power consumption of devices and helping developers implement it more easily. In his June 11 article for IDG News Service, Mikael Ricknas explained a variety of methods for doing so, including integrating voice control—which can aid battery life by minimizing touchscreen usage—and improving energy efficiency.

To help boost the popularity of Bluetooth among developers and highlight its role in the IoT, the Bluetooth Special Interest Group has created the 2016 Bluetooth Breakthrough Awards competition. The winner will get to show their products, applications or prototypes at the International CES trade show in January.
